100 Miles for May: Mission complete!

100 Miles for May: Mission complete!

100 Miles in May for Melanoma is officially complete!

When I signed up, I genuinely thought covering 100 miles in a month would be quite easy.

100 miles? An average of 3.2 miles a day.

How hard could it be? As it turns out...quite hard.

I completely underestimated how much distance 100 miles actually is when you have work, family life, holidays, school runs and everything else that comes with everyday life.

I quickly realised that the only realistic way for me to cover the distance was by bike. The slight problem being...I don't actually own a bike.

So throughout May we've hired bikes, borrowed bikes and made the most of every opportunity to get outside and explore.

What started as a fundraising challenge ended up becoming a month full of family adventures.

We cycled through beautiful countryside, explored Richmond Park twice, wandered through bluebell woods, visited places we might not otherwise have gone, and generally spent a lot more time outdoors together.

I walked as much as I could too, and even managed to add a mile of swimming while we were away on holiday.

For anyone interested (and please don't tell me if my maths is wrong!), here's the official breakdown:

100 Mile Breakdown

  • 2 miles – Bluebell wood
  • 20 miles – Cycling to Dunwich
  • 4 miles – Lee Valley
  • 2 miles – Battersea Park
  • 1 mile – CFS
  • 3 miles – Woods
  • 16.5 miles – Richmond Park
  • 1 mile – Swimming
  • 2 miles – Ronda
  • 2 miles – Golf course
  • 7 miles – Woods and back
  • 10 miles – Bike ride to the gym
  • 30 miles – Richmond Park

Total: 100 miles (I really hope 😆)

A huge thank you to my husband and the kids for joining in, putting up with my endless mileage updates and always being up for another weekend adventure.

Thank you too to everyone who sponsored me, cheered me on and sent lovely messages throughout the month. Every message genuinely meant so much.

Most importantly, thank you for helping me raise money for two incredible charities, @melanomafocus and @skcincharity, whose work supports so many people affected by melanoma and skin cancer.

If you'd like to sponsor me the fundraising page is still open here

As many of you know, melanoma is a cause that is incredibly close to our family's heart, so being able to give something back feels really special.

As for now...

I still a bit tired, but it's a very happy kind of tired. And I'm working out my next adventure...(any ideas let me know).

Thank you for coming along for the ride. 🤍
